ok so now it’s becoming about nutrition or really about food,.

So…despite my diet being made up of mostly beer - with the occasional cocktail because they tell you to eat all colors the rainbow - I think im losing Some weight but regardless between the stretching the calisthenics and the biking the kayaking I feel pretty dang good. but i need a way to track the experiments with eating. Welcome tumblr to being my confessor.

The Good:

for breakfast i had my new favorite mushy meal. chia seeds soaking in milk over night with a touch of maple syrup. but this time i added raisins I also added frozen blueberries but they didn’t taste right tooo much like cheap booberry crunch in flavor and not the right texture sticking to raisins… the creepy part is that they form a starchy mass with little seeds  like tapioca but without the chew. it works. though i suspect if i had to eat it repeatedly it would be creepy. it doesn’t have the lusciousness of custard. but i like it and it goes well with coffee.

1/4 cup of chia seeds

1 cup milk

1/4 cup raisins.

tablespoon of maple sugar leave in fridge overnight

in my experience it helps when you stir it up in the morning to add a splash more milk.

so our loose stats are:

460 calories i think i’d skip the raisins and have the fiber of an apple instead. Raisins are 160 calories.

But here is the deal 18 grams of protein, 8 g of fiber and omega 3s. so for a breakfast before a ride or other activity i think it fit the bill maybe id add an apple

4 things that make me a bay area cliche

  1. I work in an office with exposed brick, a ping pong table and a bunch of apple products
  2. I road bike and I always stop to get an espresso during a ride.
  3. I drink kombucha because i think it will magically fix whatever is wrong with me.
  4. I have a lot of opinions about sandwiches

This is hard #1

You wake up in the middle of the night with this weight on your chest. The weight is just sadness, sheer sadness. You try to breathe into it but it’s so heavy.

You brain goes crazy trying to fight that weight with action. It’s in a wrestling match the wrestling match is loud cacophonous, so many spectators rooting pulling it in all directions. The punches are possible actions… recriminations…worrying.  The wrestling match has done nothing to defeat the sadness. When it is over the sadness is still there and i am trying so hard to breathe.

Things never to say to engineers: “It’s Easy”

It’s Easy

If you are not an engineer but have to deal with them on a regular basis, you might find yourself on the recieving end of some eye rolling. This may be unavoidable Engineers like to roll their eyes, it’s good for our eye muscles.

But if they seem cranky and you can’t figure out why…let me offer you a few reasons you may not be aware of.

WHY: Because things that seem easy can be really hard because of constraints of the system that you have no awareness of. We may not have any awareness of it either until we try to move things over a pixel or two. If this is frustrating for you imagine how frustrating it is to have to talk to three people to find out why you can’t capitilize a persons name.

So if it is so easy, then YOU do it.

mini book review:

Like everyone else I read “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. It is the only book I have ever read that details the process of buying a new laptop as if it were a plot twist. http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/25/the-girl-with-the-insanely-long-gear-list/
